VICE-REGAL INTEREST
VISIT TO SALVATION ARMY
His Excellency the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloo will pay their first official visit to the Salvation Army on Friday next.
They will first visit tho National Headquarters at 202, Cuba street, arriving at 10.45 a.m. Their Excellencies will be rcceivod by Commissioner John Cunningham and Colonel Taylor, the chief secretary, and departmental officers. Thoy will then inspect the Samaritan Ofßco, where applicants apply for immediate relief, and the People's Palace, which is opposite the headquarters. This is a hotel with accommodation for 340 people. Brigadier Macaulay, the manager, will receive Their Excellencies. From there the visitors will go to the Young Women's Hostel, 8, Church street, off Boulcott stroet, where they will bo received at 11.5 a.m. by the matron, Adjutant Anne Day. This hostel is for the accommodation of business girls, and has a capticitv for 50.
After inspecting these institutions Their Excellences will go to the Evcntido Homo, Mersey street, Island Bay, where thoy are due to arrive at 11.40 a.m. Adjutant Stiuson, the matron, ■will receivn Their Excellencies and show thorn, over the building. ■
