TRACKS IN BAD STATE
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post:") CHIfISTCIIUKCII, This- Buy. Mot;for many yours has the Eiecarton course beim iii such condition as at thepresent time. 'Largo lakes are in evidence in many places in the middle of the course, and the trucks .are in a very bud stale. The trial grass is little better than si boy in places, with water .lying .ia.it. Tin; sand track is under wafer in parts, almost to its £ull width, while patches of Nos. 6 and 7 tracks are .submerged. A few trainers braved the elements this morning when the rain continued to fall heavily, anil gave their charges useful pace work on the outside of the ■sand track, but many trainers confined their horses to road exercise. ■ Mrs. A. M'Donald, who arrived the previous day with CorneroiT, Llyn Dhu, Blue. Paper, Airforcc, and Potoaform, put in an appearance, and gave them useful pace work on the sand. Most of them have done a lot of racing lately and are in good order. " Endiatc was. out doing useful work. He moved along quite freely. T. H. Gillett worked Lord Ranald, Wharneliffe, and Charlatan.,. The three steeplechasers all moved along, in good style, though Wharncliffo is a trifle sore as the result of a knock on his rear fore foot. A decision regarding the Grand National engagements of the first-named pair will not be made until after they work to-morrow. Aberfeidy was one of the early workers, his task being solid pace work. He has had an interrupted preparation as thd result of trouble in both hind .feet, but lie lias made a good recovery. He will be a runner in the Junipers' Flat Handicap, but ho must bo backward. Desert Song, looking well after his race on Saturday, got through useful work, as did his stablemate, Nightdew, who is engaged in a hack event on. the socond day of next week's meeting. Bational 11., Basouli, and Arikinni were sent along in useful tasks. Their trainer, E. J. Murtagb, has had an nnlueky experience in meeting such bad conditions at Bicearton, after leaving Trenthain early in order to secure:better working ground. ■ ' -.'■■ On Top got through -useful- work, and looks well, though he is suffering from, a slight knock on the near hind leg, the result of a kick from another horse in E. B. Berry's stable. H. Donovan worked Appeal and The Clan at useful pace. These two look in good fettle. Eanelagh continues to get through plenty of solid tasks, though he has not been seriously ridden out, in any of his recent gallops. A. E. Wormald has him looking well, and he should be a very fit horse for the Winter Cup, in which A. E. Didham will ride him." Amorist is making a good recovery from the effects of a mishap that occurred at the end of last week. A few days of absolute idleness, however, cannot improve his prospects even if he becomes quite sound. • ■ .. . . ■■ Corneroff struck himself while working at* Awapunii last week, and had to be eased up for a couple of days. He is all right now, and will bo schooled over the Bicearton fences at the end of the week, after which his programme for next week will be decided. In the meantime* his engagement in the Grand National Steeplechase will be coutinued. Llyn Dhu will be allowed to drop out of-the Winter Cup, and will be. started next Tuesday in tho Trial Hnrdles'as a pfelimiiiary to taking cm the' Grand National Hurdles on- Thursday.; '■: He looks in great order. ; Aurora Borealis is. not expected at Eiccarton until the end of this week. Iv tho meantime she is reported to be doing well in training at Poxton, and will lack nothing in condition when she goes out for tho Grand National Steeplechase nest Tuesday. ■•
