HOUSING IN SYDNEY
THOUSANDS OF FLATS TO LET
(From "The Post's" Representative) SYDNEY, 24tu July.
Of about 18.000 flats in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, some-thing like 6000 are without tenants. There is a superabundaneo of these structures also on tho northern side of the harbour and in other parts of Sydney. Many couplos who have been hit by the economic cyclone have stored their household gods and goods, and taken temporary shelter with mother and father. That partly explains tho f acj; that many flats are to let. Some districts round Sydney are placing a ban on the erection of any more flats. This seems almost unnecessary at present, unless there are people foolish enough to want to build them to-day.
