M'DONALD MINE
BIG CONTRACT LET
Apparently the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company is losing1 no timo in setting machinery in motion for the opening of the M' Donald Mine. A contract has already been let for the supply of SO9 haulage trucks and couplings. These will be made in Hamilton by J. 3. Niveas and Co., Ltd. The cost is in tlio vicinity of i£12,000.
It is pointed out that this contract will mean the employment of a large number of hands, as a large proportion of the money will go in labour costs. Moro labour will be required in making alterations at the mine, and the purchasing of such a large number of trucks indicates extensive activities.
