HAWERA TRACK NOTES

HAWEBA, This Day.
As a result of last night's ;rain the sand track came into requisition this morning, but no fast work was performed.
Copey, Orazonc, Calamine, Pikimai, and Maidos reiurned from tho Palmerstou trip. Pikimai with a first, Maidos with two thirds, and Copey with a third gained stako money. Pikimai, when going well on the second day, was brought down, something running across him. Maidos jumped splendidly throughout, but lacked finishing effort. Orazpne ran two good races and will be better for the outing. Bonogno made a reappearance on tho. Hawera tracks this morning, and trotted and cantered. Ho will be better for ;i littlo building up. All pace work- was done- on the sand. Mount Shannon and Airtight went twice round at good half pace. Mendip, well above himself, was hard to restrain over two laps..
Kiosk, Bright Glow, and Go wan Lea pottered about inside. Silvermino strode nicely over tho pace work on two laps.
Son o' Mine (Cook) went round the schooling hurdles, jumping well. Tcntcall and Ngawhine were allotted similar work.
Homewood and The Improver worked well on a round.
J. Brown had Biftex, the three-year-old sister of Bisox, and Whirl doing useful exercise. The pair have done road work and are in nice condition.
Inah's colt and Lackham, a colt from Jones's stable, worked together, sprinting a furlong down tho back twice. Both moved nicely.
Royal Acre is looking well after a spell and lias rejoined Conway's team.
Ho -worked once round and should not take long to get ready.
O. Cox had Tea Tra}', Australian Sun, Grandcourt, and Lady Bentiuck's youngster doing routine work.
<T. Fryer had Hunting Song and Arausis, two-year-olds, out.
Coalbag, Joy Spear, Acre, and Marsuina gelding performed useful tasks.
C. Jackson had Gasfield out again do* ing steady pace work.
