VALUE OF A CHECK
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND", This Day.
The Auckland commercial travellers recently conducted a "drive" for cash and clothes with which to help necessitous people. All the money and clothes have been distributed by the travellers' committee to people certified by social organisations as needy. Tho total so certified was 2130, but over 370 duplications were discovered, and also that 500 applicants wore refused, as no social worker would certify to them.
' The controller of thu distribution said the number of duplications would have been very largo if no register had been kept, and they must have been very largo in previous years.
