Breaking . into a storeroom after arousing and being refused liquor by' tho licensee of the Gretna Hotel, Taihape, about 3 o'clock on Monday moming, Robert Boyd, aged 23, and Johu Warren, aged 31, stole a case of British stout. They opened the case on tho roadside, drank freely, and hid the rest in a culvert.
An hour earlier they attempted to break into the Main Trunk brewery, but the lock resisted all efforts. Warren was arrested on the river bank drinking from bottles, and Boyd was arrested at home; Bottles were in his possession. Both men appeared before Justices at the Court this morning. Boyd, with five previous convictions, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, and Warren, a married man living apart from his wife, with one previous conviction, was sentenced to threo months' imprisonment.
