WINTER SHOW CLOSES
CHILDREN'S GREAT DAY
The final afternoon and evening sessions of the Winter Show on Saturday were well attended. The crowd took full advantage of the last opportunity to thoroughly investigate the New Zea-land-made goods on view, while the sideshows did very well indeed. It was a great day for the children, who were given presents by many of the holders, and several thousand rulers were given by the Manufacturers' Association. Free tickets, on the merry-go-round, and cards entitling them to a choice of presents, further gladdened the thousands of children who turned out on Saturday-afternoon. The Show Association has been unfortunate,' in common with most enterprises catering for public support, through the financial condition of the country, but its season has been even more affected by counter attractions ot a porting nature. Saturday's takings were £437, a decrease of £60. below the final day's last year, and the three week's "gate" will show a decreaso of over £500.
