MANAWATU ACCEPTANCES

SOME GOOD FIELDS

With the Mauawatu Kaeing Club staging its first winter meeting nest week, a good deal of interest was centred on the support likely to be accorded the club in its venture. There is 'no doubt now that irom a racing point of view the meeting will be a big success. The acceptances

published to-day show plenty of horses representing in the main the best class availJ able for the season. Awapuui is in such a happy position geographically that this .■was confidently anticipated, and the fixture comes at a good time to fill a void in the list, i The Grand National favourite, ©meo, is in the Awapuni Steeplechase, ■with three other Rieearion candidates in Hyrnestrasbn, Flying Swift, and Corneroff. 31aster Lv is a likely Aucklander, and Handy will see to it that there is plonty of pace on for most of the way. Winter Cup candidates in the Clifford Handicap are Best Friend, Marjoram, Duellona, Black Mint, and Royal Game, while in the Stewards' Handicap are Otairi and Teri. P'addon has been accepted for in the Clifford Handicap, and should be a well-backed liorse. Hynanna is a notable acceptor for the Stewards' Handicap, and he is a class liorse to be^ welcomed back after a longish absence. The hunters' events and minor flat races have also filled particularly well. Class in the Oroua Plate is not high, and Okapua, Paiko's brother, has only to reproduce track form to make a job of this field. ■
