While barometers have risen in the far North since last night, a depression has been crossing the South Island and pressure has fallen again from Cook Strait southwards. Strong south-west winds have continued to blow in North Auckland, hut south of New Plymouth and Napier southerlies have given place to westerlies and, in places, to north-westerlies, moderate generally but of gale force about Fovcaux Strait. Cold, squally, and changeable weather prevailed during Friday with showers in most districts and hail or ,snow showers on parts of the East Coast. By this morning, however, conditions had improved in districts with an easterly aspect, but scattered showers were still reported in all western parts. TO-DAY'S WEATHEfI.
