FEILDING STOCK SALE

FEILDING, 11th July
Over 2000 fat sheep and lambs wer* ottered at the stock sale to-day, and .though this was an extra large yarding, previous rates were fully maintained and the auctioneers .had little difficulty in quitting most of the lines offered. Representatives of several freezing companies were operating, and this kept prices at a good level. Good prime pens sold at specially high prices. It was noticeable that, no matter what the quality, there seemed to be a market, at a price of course. Again there was a. heavy yarding of dairy Btock, and cows close to profit sold at prices equalling tlio.se of last season, when buHei'fat was appreciably higher than it is at present. *
Fat Lambs.—Pi'iinest heavyweights made 24s 3d, with lines close to these in quality and weight at 21s 2d; good weights, 18s Id to 18s 3d; fair, 15s 6d to 15s 9d; medium weights. Us lOd to JSs.
Fat Ewes. —An especially good pen sold at 2]s 2d; good, to ICs 9d; medium, 14s to 15s; fair, 13s !)d to 14s 6d; fat two-tooths, extra good, ISs; very good, 23s 9d; good, 10s.
Fat AVctliers.—Good weights, 245; fair, 22s 6d.
Store Sheep.—There was a heavy yarding of lambs, and a smaller yarding o: breeding ewes. The latter did not find a ready market, the cold weather conditions apparently making buyers wary at present, but lambs and young sheep found a good market. B.F. lambs, 9s 7d; W.F. lambs, to 10s 7d; ewe lambs, good lines, 17s lOd; others, from 10s 8d to 15s Od; breeding ewes, 2. 4, and 6-tooth, in lamb to Romney rams, 16s 11 d; four-year ewee, r.w. Southdown rams, 21s 6d: 6-tooth to five year, ditto, 20s Gd; empty ewes, 13s 6d to 17s 8d; 2-tooth ewes. ISs 4d; 2-tootli wethers, very good, 20s 3d; good, 18s 2dothers, 14s to 14s 3d; 4-tooth forward wethers, 18s 4<l to 21s 9d; ewes in poor condition, empty, 8s 9d to ]2s. '.. Cattle.—There was a big yarding. I. .A. bullocks in good condition made up to £.12 15s; heavy cows, £9 los to £10 •)s; some lines of bullocks passed at £tl os; light Jersey cows, from £4 to £7; better weights to £8 10s. ■ -~ _ Dairy Cows.—August calvers. best quality, £12; very good, £S 15s to £9 'insothers from £4 5s to £7 15s. A Bpecial entry from Mr. Stewart of Apiti 'sold at prices ranging from £10 2s 6d for best to £8 for those not in such good condition. Ihese cows were all Jersey cross, arid close tn profit. Springing heifers sold at up to £]0. ;
