DEPUTY-LEADER APPOINTED
■ The appointment of the Hon. E. Masters as deputy Leader of the Legislative Council, was announced to-day by tho Prime Minister.
Mr. Forbes pointed out that Mr. Masters, when a member of tho Lower House, had shown himself to be one of the soundest critics in matters of finance, business undertakings, and Departmental activities. , His criticisms
had always been looked upon as being worthy of the utmost attention during the whole of his career as a Parliamentarian. At the same timo he had displayed a broad outlook on public and national affairs generally,". and Mr. Forbes "w.is convinced that in his new position Mr. Masters would be able to give useful assistance to the Leader of the Council in every direction.
