RUGBY ATTRACTIONS

PETONE V. PONEKE AT THE PAKE.

Poneke have shown consistont improvement in 'the last few matches in the i local senior Rugby championship, and it was only their due that they should be given a game at Athletic Park. Further, the fact that they are meeting Petone is sufficient at any time to cause considerable interest to be taken in the match. Both teams generally five of their best when they imeet, and the fact that Petone is at I the top of tho championship laddor while Poncke is several steps lower down, does not mean that a.win is at all certain for Petone. The Poneke side is now considerably stronger than .that which was defeated by Petone in the first round, and mattors can bo expected *o be stirring in to-morrow's game. Two solid and clever packs of forwards will be opposed to each other, and both sets of backs are capable of' providing bright Rugby. In the other games sot- down for to-morrow, when the second round will bo commenced, considerable intorest is bound to bo taken in the M-arist-Hutt match on the Potone ground. Cooke will bo in the Hutt back lino again, and Afarist will have to play up to win. Old Boys will meqt Oriental at Newtown Park, and University will play Berhampore at the Prince of Wales Park.
