"JOURNEY'S, END"
The programme for the fortnightly reunion .of the Cercle Francais, held on Thursday evening, was arranged by the Misses Smythson (secretaries).
M. F. Bouillet gave a discourse upon "Le Secret dv Bonheur," in which he was assisted by Madame de Filippi, who read "Le Savetier et le Financier;" both were warmly applauded. A new member, Mile Vouga, was conspicuously successful in a scene from "Les Plaideurs' (following a causerie on racing), which indicated her as a valuable acquisition. Recitations were given by Mrs. Benge ("Less Prures") and Miss Mead ( \Li Amour de la Patrie" and "Seul dans ma Chambre"), their selections being rnucn appreciated. Miss Dorothy Hanify played "L'Alouette" and Mr. Trevor Fisher contributed the second movement of a sonata by Glazounov. Both played encore pieces.' A Russian dance by Miss Audrey Robertson was an enlivening item and was repeated. Some excerpts trom Le Grand Voyage,", the French adaptation of Sherrifl's "Journey's End, -were introduced by Miss Sniythson, who bneuy outlined the plot of the play. The parts were taken by Messrs. F. F. Miles ( Osborne), W. F. Balham (Trotter), Professor Boyd Wilson (the Colonel), B. Potts (Stanhope), Alex Jessep (Mason), and Miss Coralie Smythson (Raleigh).
