ANNUAL REPORT
The 44th annual report of the Wellington Bowling Club states that satisfactory "progress was accomplished during tho year. At the last annual meeting the club decided that the match 'committee should classify all playors, and subsequently choose all rinks and pairi taking part in the clvb1 competitions. This" has been tried, but alterations are suggested, and will be considered by the 'ucoming directors and the match committee. : . ■ ■■■'■ ■"•'•■ ■ " Another new principle was also applied to ascertain the club's representatives in the champion of champion rink »? and pairs games. Eight of the, strongest rinks and pairs were chosen by the match committee, and they were formed into two sections. The winner of sections then played off, and so the representatives were found. Tho "winners of tho various games . held throughout the season were: Club singles, Mr. E. J. Hill; Georgetti Cup singles, Mr. A. E. Duncan; champion pairs, Messrs. W. J. Thompson and A. E. Duncan; champion rink, Messrs. W. ■"A. Parton, A. Longmore, A. G. Warwick, and V. Diinoek; Labour Day tournament, Messrs. E. Roberts, G. S. Hill, Archdeacon Innes-Jones, and Captain, M'Arthur;, president and vice-presi-dent's trophies, Messrs. I. Salek, Major Davy, G. S. Hill, and E. J. Hill; club rink, Messrs. G. Jeffrey, J. H. Mentiplay, A. Wylic, and W. M. Parkhouse; eluh pairs, Messrs. W. N. Tregonning and J. Fairway; Easter Monday tournament, Messrs. Devcridge and Laurie. Early in February a rink consisting of Messrs. U. Nash, M'Arthur, Porteous, and E. J. Hill competed in the first Rotorua tournament, and was successful in winning the Rotorua flag. Regarding pennant games, the club was again unsuccessful. The percentage for the 16 rinks was 53.25, as against 77 per cent, for the winners, who played ten rinks. . For the first time for many years a rink .was entered for tho junior pennant. The men were enthusiastic, and thoroughly enjoyed tho various rink contests. Island Bay won the competition. Eegret is expressed at the deaths of Messrs. H. Jackman, W. Adams, and C. Tanner, popular members of the club. The green committee reports that members can look forward to the • coming season with every .confidence that the greens, will again bo excellent for play. . , , . - Mr. E. J.
