The party arrived in Wellington from Christchurch yesterday, morning, and left in the evening for Auckland. A Compliment to Christcliurcli. "I feel rather nervous coming to Christchureh to talk to the1 Canterbury Chamber of Commerce," confessed His Majesty's Trade Commissioner in New Zealand (Mr. L. A. Paish) at a luncheon on Thursday. "I have had the opportunity of reading your economic bulletins, and I feel that you have reached such a high calibre that it would be almost superfluous for me to come here and teach you something. Of all tho cities I have visited in New Zealand, I suppose Christchurch has the most economic knowledge and the most economic ability." The chamber greatly appreciated this compliment, said Mr. A. M. Burns, in moving a vote of thanks to Mr. Paish. The Commissioner's high opinion of its bulletins was only in keeping with the worldwide reputation which they were building up. _______«___—
