CRASH INTO POLE

MOTOR-LORRY WRECKED

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAWERA, This Day. A motor lorry crashed into a telegraph pole near Manaia yesterday afternoon and was almost totally wrecked, the telegraph pole being split from top to bottom.

It is believed that a mishap to the rear undercarriage resulted in the machine becoming unmanageable. The rear axle and wheel were separated from the body of the lorry as it struck the telegraph pole. The lorry travelled several yards, before capsizing in the middle of the road, but the driver, N. Murray, escaped serious injury.
