STRUCK BY ANGRY PLAYER
SUDDEN EXB TO GAME

NEW PLYMOUTH, Sth June,
A referee, Mr. K. Nodder, was carried off a playing field unconscious in a senior Eugby competition match between Okato and Tukapa at Okato yestorday. He had been knocked out by an angry player who disagreed with his rulings. Tho match was abandoned with Okato leading by six points to three.
With Tukapa attacking strenuously, fooling was running high, and Okato's supporters were disagreeing with the referee's rulings.
According to tho referee, the climax came when he ordered G. Roebuck off the Held for persistent "cheek." Boobuck's brother, E. Roebuck, came- up ••ind, it is alleged, used bad language. Tho referee ordered him off also and he replied with a loft hook to the jaw which stretched the referee on tho ground unconscious. Roebuck walked immediately to tho dressing shod, and thoso in control declared iho game off. The referee soon recovered consciousness.
