i . A steady rise in barometric pressure is now taking place over the Dominion, yesterday's intense disturbance having passed away rapidly eastward. Squalls and Occasional showers characterised yesterday's" weather in most districts. Hail fell in places on the East Coast, and in the evening a ten minutes' vtliundorstona was experienced in the Hutt Valley. , Hail fell; there,:too, aDd also in the city at that time. ,

A strong and squally south-west wind prevailed in Auckland yesterday, occasional showers being experienced. Wellington had pleasant weather during the day after threatening weather iii the early morning, but as the oyening wore on cold and squally conditions set in and continued all night. The occasional showers contributed■• only •• two points of rain to the month's total. A dull and unpleasant day in Christchiireh culminated in a south-westerly ■*• "gale. Conditions became very cold: and: squally, eight points of rain being recorded. Dunqdin also had a cold and wintry, day. . A strong and squally south-westerly wind was frequently accompanied by rain. ; : ■..*:'■:

North .of New.Plymouth and Napier moderate to strong south-westerly winds arc still likely to be experienced. Elsewhere there * will be a tendency for winds to freshen from the west or north-west. Although improving in eastern districts, in western districts the weather is still likely to be somewhat changeable and showery. ' Temperatures should become milder.
