GIFTS OF CLOTHING
A report covering investigations into the re.quirenien'ts.<:of sixteen cases was submitted' at- rthi3'',jveoK.'B meeting of tho Red" Cross Unemployment Iveliol' Committee. Of these cases three were women. Domestic employment was found for the first, au order "for wood and coal was given to the second (a mother with five young children) and representations were made to the Social Welfare Committee for further aid. Efforts are being made to h'nd a vacancy for the third. Of the 13 men applying, . four had been found temporary^ positions,' three.' had; been supplied with .clothing, two. were referred to the Social Welfare Committee, and four letters o.f introduction sWere given to likely employers. ■;........' , 'The"'chairman (Mr;' '3'j'T: Goldsmith) referred to the conference ::hol3 at the Lnstancq of the Minister of Labour, of ■representatives-'frflrb : publiii' bodie to discuss the question' 6f unemployment. Tho Ladies' Auxiliary has been .particularly busy in' distributing clothes and footwear to give relief in those cases..'
