A NEED FOR POLICE

PARKS AND DOMAINS

LACK OF. SUPERVISION

(By ,Telegraph.—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, 29th May.

"While I am speaking on this topic," said hia Honour Mr. Justice Herdman, in dealing with a prisoner at the Suproment Court this morning, who had committed a series of indecent offences upon young boys and girls, "I would like to observe that I think it is high time the police -exercised some supervision over our parks and domains.

"While I was /passing through the Domain, as I very often do, I was met by one of the gardeners, who told me he had been pursuing some man who had been interfering with children," continued his Honour. "A day or two later he told me of an almost similar incident, and suggested that there should be some police protection given to women and children who patronise domains and parks. There is no police supervision, and I make this observation because parks and domains are not protected, and they are therefore not made safe to women and children."
