MISS JOHNSON'S FLIGHT

ALMOST EXHAUSTED ARRIVAL AT CHARLEVILLE United Press Association—By Electric Tolagraph- Copyright. (Received 29th May, 10 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Flying from Longreacb on her way to Eoma, where she was to spend the night and broadcast a short talk to Australians, proceeding to Brisbane tomorrow, Miss Amy Johnson got off her course, having become separated from the escorting aeroplane, and landed at Quilpie, 130 miles west of Charlovillo. She refuelled and hopped off again for Charleville, following the railway line. She landed at Charleville just after 6 o'clock, when it was already dark. Twenty motorists grouped their headlights and flooded the, landing ground. Tho flyer made a perfect descent, amid deafening cheers. Terrified by a mob that rushed her upon landing at Charleville, worn out by the day's flying, and dispirited by having lost her way, Miss Amy Johnson broke into tears when she reached her hotel last night. Sweeping the police and officials aside the crowd rushed in with a wild burst of enthusiasm, but Miss Johnson, afraid of one thing only, and that is a mob,-became hysterical, and almost broke down on the aerodrome. She was too upset even t' speak to her parents by wireless telephone. Her broadcast talk, originally intended for Koraa, was most brief. In her broadcast Miss Johnson said: "Holloa, Australia! I'm just going to bed. I'm very tired. I will speak to you longer when I reach Brisbane. Good-night."
