The weather was fine and warm for tho opening at Oxford of the Australians' match against Oxford University. Woodfull won the toss and Australia batted, making 406 for the loss of two wickets. Oldfield, a'Beckett, Jackson, and Horuibrook were omitted from the Australian team. The Oxford team was: B. Kingsley, C. Hillwood, N. Ford, tho Nawab of Patoudi, H. Garland-Wells, I. Peebles, I. Akers-Douglas, A. Melville, J. Mayhew, D. Moore, J. Nevison. On an easy wicket, which gave the bowlers no assistance, and in bright sunshine-, tho Australians rattled up a splendid score against the University. Fifty was scored in equal time, M'Cabe batting well, though he gave a chance of stumping at 20, and with Ponsford maintained, a run-a-minute rate until lunch, the bowlers not giving much trouble. Tho pair made the best opening stand of the tour, passing 127. M'Cabe, with confidence restored after a run of failures, now drove vigorously. Peebles left the field with a strained shoulder. A hundred and fifty occupied 135 minutes. , M' Cabe seemed certain of a century when he reached forward and was yorked. He batted 140 minutes and hit thirteen fours. The partnership produced 172. '
