POWER BOARD CHARGES
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l want to draw attention to th<? unfairness of the charges'levied on small users of current in the Hutt Valley Power Board district. I have a week-end bach. For each meal we cook (two persons only) on the electric cooker. We use one unit of electricity, at a cost of 6d per unit. For five meals each week-end the cost is 2s 6d for electric current only—which Icontend is a preposterous charge. The charge for heating and cooking should be 2d per 'unit, not 6d per unit. The latter is a reasonable charge only in the case of current used for lighting. We shall ba told that these comparatively high charges to small users are necessitated by the rendering of accounts. This is not so. Ihe reading of meters and. simultaneous rendering of accounts should not cost more than 6d per user. It seems to me that the small user of current is overcharged in order that the large user may be tinder-charged.—l amj etc., -. SUFFERER. 28th May. . . '
