STILL SQUALLY

BUT WEATHER IMPROVING

Sqiially and changeable; weather, with showers, in nearly all parts, haa prevailed during the last 24 hours. Further snow has fallen on the high country. A temporary fair spell was experienced yesterday on the Bast Coast and about Cook. Strait owing to the tendency of the wind to get back to the north-west-erly quarter. Generally speaking, howeverj winds have been west to southwest, and have been/ strong and have reached 'gale force in places, owing to the passage of another low pressure wave of the type so frequent of late. A squally south-west wind prevailed in Auckland yesterday with passing showers. Wellington had a eompara-, tively pleasant day with a north-west wind, which,- howevor, changed to the south-west later in the day. After showers in the morning, Christchureh had a fine and sunny day. Cold and fair weather prevailed in Dunedin, and showers fell yesterday evening and last night. Westerly to southerly winds, strong and reaching gale force in places, are forecasted, to; decrease in strength gradually. In the meantime the weather,, will still be squally and showery at times, but an improvement should set in over eastern districts.
