CHALLENGE TO AUCKLAND

The secretary reported to last night's meeting of the Wellington Football Association that a challenge had been lodged against Auckland for the F.A. trophy, Wellington being the first association to challenge this season. The following transfers were approved: —E. G. Osborne, from Island Bay^ to Trentham; H. Thirwelly .from Boys Institute to N.A.D.A.; Kirkwood. from Swifts first division to Swifts intermediate team; H. Caisley, from Seatoun intermediate to Seatoun fourth grade. lhe transfer of L. However, it was much improved as compared with its condition some time ago. The chairman (Mr. W. B. Hicks) thought that the ground would be fit for a senior game next Saturday. The ground was being improved each week. Arising out of correspondence, a discussion arose over the starting time of games. ' , , It was moved that ten minutes grace be allowed after the advertised time for starting a game. , ~ , The motion was lost, but it was decided to urge the Referees' Association to see that games started punctually. The team to" represent Wellington against Manawatu, at Palmerston North, on 3rd June is as follows:-Parkin (Seatoun); Newton (Seatoun), Haines(Petone); Wilson (Marist), Haines (Waterside), captain, M'Cormack (Diamond); Baistow (Petone), M. Condon (Marist), Dickinson (Diamond), Wi son (Waterside), Stark (Diamond). Emergency: Thomas (Island Bay). Mr. W. Iraser was appointed manager of tne^team. First and second division fixtures for 7th June are:—First division: Waterside v W V M.1., Basin Reserve No. 1; Diamond' v. Seatoun, Basin Reserve No. 2; Petone v. Hospital, Hospital ground; Institute v. Marist, Stadium. Second division:: Thistle v. Brooklyn, Seatoun; Island Bay v. Lower Hutt, Lower Hutt- Swifts v Technical Old Boys, Wakefield Park.
