BROADCASTING PROGRAMMES

(To tha Editor.) Sir,—lt isN not my mtention to compile a long letter on the subject, but;l consider the programmes as broadcasted by 2YA of late are, in short, not worth listening to. - I am a great lover of Imusio, and have just purchased an expensive dynamic speaker, so as to get the best results. 1 find with 2YA programmes it is hardly worth investing in a good set, as the majority of artists employed'are not fit to perform, from a musical point of viewJ If it wero possible, I would suggest that those responsible at 2YA either givo more records or procure the services of artists, who are talented enough to produce the goods. ~ One only1 has to listen to the Sunday uiglit concerts to be convinced that we have in our city talent of a high: degree, but perhaps they would not perform at 2YA on account of the small payment. . . . I do not hesitate to say that 'if-some of the artists employed by 2YA were to appear on the concert platform, they would never be allowed to coutinue, the public simply wouldn't tolerate them. In conclusion, I suggest that the listeners form an association to further the interests of those who pay 30s for service, which as far as the'artists are concerned is not given. I appeal to listeners not to tolerate such performances, but to ;band together and make their opinions felt. Public opinion is a big factor, and; 2YA should at once reconstruct their policy ot cheap paid artists.—l am, etc., ; •'..:/ . -DISGUSTED.
