Another was broken to-day, and it seems that this time the record maystand, for the 4250 tons that passed through the tunne. from noon on Tues* day to noon yesterday was approximately tho maximum that the tunnel can handle in twenty-four hours. The loads were conveyed by seventeen trains from Otirn to Arthur's Pass, nnd by fifteen trains from Arthur's Pass to Springfield, from where they vrerc worked to Middleton by ■a. i smaller number of trains. i From 3 p.m. to S a.m. to-day a further 3500 tons will pass through tho tunnel. The reason for the present busy timo !is the fact that tho Greymouth bar is at present unworkable, and shipping "is held up.
