DOMINION RECOGNITION

A SUGGESTION FOR WOMEN

Lady Beauelninip writes to. "The Post":—

Quite a number of lady friends have expressed to mo the opinion .that we, the women of New Zealand, should i mark our appreciation in some tangible form of the wonderful skill and cour-, age of Miss Amy Johnson, the first aviatrix who has successfully accomplished a solo flight from England to Australia. As such, her name, I am. sure, will be held in imperishable memory. In all parts of the Empire . the feat of this young Englishwomaa will be enthusiastically acclaimed.

. Now, my object in writing to you, Sir, is to suggest that in order to show our appreciation in something niora than words, the women in this Dominion should be invited to make her a ■ presentation; and for that purpose subscriptions of not more, or not less than Is should be contributed. With a view to making tho appeal as widely known, as possible, it would bo of material assistance if Station 2YA, Wellington, would consent to broadcast it thrpughout the length and breadth of the land. If that were done, I anticipate there would be no difjfjulty in obtaining , 10,000 subscribers."
