COMING CRICKET TESTS
LEVESON-GOWER'S DREAM
LONDON, 26th May.
Mr. 11. D. G. Loveson-Gower presided at a dinner given the Australian cricket team Jjy the Surrey Club. He confessed that the selection of the English Test team was causing a lot of worry.
" Sometimes I dream that Bradman was never dismissed for less than 150 runs in a Test match; sometimes that Woodfull wins .all five tosses; sometimes that Oldfield never misses a catch at the "wicket. But it is only a dream," declared Mr. Leveson-Gower, who was speaking in the dual capacity.of president of Surrey and chairman of the English selectors. The ex-Lord Mayor, Sir Kynaston Studd, proposing the toast of Test cricket, hoped that the Tests would not bo played in a manner overshadowing the real spirit of the game.
Woodfull and the Australian mana-. ger, Mr. Kelly, suitably responded. The dinner was held in the historic Skinners' Hall, which is oak panelled. Musicians in the gallery played oldtime tunes. Much valuable antique gold and silver was displayed. _
