PAINFUL, NOT SERIOUS

NO AFTEKMATH OF ILLNESS

British Official Wireless.

(Received 28th May, 11 a.m.)

RUGBY, 27th May.

The temporary indisposition of the King, announced this morning, is not of a serious nature, and has no connection with his recent illness. The announcement stated that for some days he has suffered from painful, localised rheumatism of the right hip, and that although he has been advised not to attend the Eoyal Courts being held tonight and to-morrow, he hopes to fulfil engagements later in the week. The ceremonial of Court involves a considerable physical strain, which wquld in the' circumstances have been painful and tiring to the King. Consequently the Queen, escorted by the Prince of Wales, is holding Courts to-night and to-morrow.

It is thought that the attack of rheumatism is largely attributable to the recent period of cold, damp weatheV. The ■King's engagements later in, the week include the opening of the Royal Tourney on Thursday and the reception of the delegates to the Congress of Imperial Chambers of Commerce on Friday. The attack is not interfering with His Majesty's routine work at the Palace, and he received visitors to-day as usual.
