SHANGHAI, 27th May.

Telegrams from Pekin confirm the news of a substantial Northern victory against Nanking in tho neighbourhood1 of Kweiteh. Apparently Nanking'spresent reverses are-the result of the J employment of rebel reserves believed to consist of highly-trained troops of Feng Yu-Hsiang equipped with the latest armaments. Nanking is throwing tho whole weight of its army into a general offensive, it is reported, with disastrous results on practically every front.
