ROADS TOO WIDE
MORE DANCERS THAN BEFORE
SUBSIDY FOE INSPECTOR?
"Wide roads have created more dangers than ever before," declared Councillor K. Bothauilcy, at the annual meeting of the Makara County Council to-day. "Children at Porirua have to jump off the road to avoid the cars." Ho urged that tho council should provide footpaths in congested areas so that children could walk to school in safety. The- chairman (Councillor E. Windley) said that in his address he had stated.that whereas they formerly had the dangerous narrow main road, they^ now ' had the dangerous wide main" road. They could appoint a traffic inspector, and he thought it was desirable to do so. In his opinion, the time was opportune to approach tho Main' Highways Hoard and ask for a subsidy for a traffic inspector of their own. ■ .
"We must try to control the whole main road," added the ehairrnau, "and I hope it will bo possible to control all roads carrying any traffic, and where dangers are likely to arise."
