LORRY DRIVER INJURED
■When a train and a motor-lorry eollidSrd at a crossing at Wallaceville this jnoraing, the driver of the lorry, A. Crorrie,-"a carrier at Wallaeeville, had a narrow escape from being killed outjright. ~ ■ \
The- train (tho 9.50 from Trcntham to Ppper Hutt) struck tho lorry broadside on near the rear right wheel and threw it clear of the rails about twenty-five £eet away. Tho driver of the lorry was thrown over a fence, which broke his fall. Ho received head injuries and abrasions, and also' suffered from shock. After being attended to by Dr. Kemp, he was brought into- the Hospital by the City [Ambulance. The crossing where tho accident occurred is considered rather a bad one as far as visibility is concerned, and it is obligatory upon motor drivers to stop ■before going over it. ' It is stated that the lorry was nearly across1 the line when it was struck by the train.
