INFLUENCE ON MANKIND

ASTROLOGERS' WELCOME

(F-om "The Post's" Representative.) NEW YORK, Ist May.

Astrologers welcome tho discovery of tho tenth planet because, they say, it puts them in possession of the unknown factor which lias been disturbing their calculations.

Mrs. Elizabeth Aldrieh, editor of "The Astr6loger," writes that Planet X will enable her to "step up" her accuracy from To to S5 per cent. It ■has a big effect on world conditions. Many years may elapse before this effect is successfully analysed, because 84 years have elapsed since (the discovery of Neptune, and its influence is still imperfectly understood. She quotes many astrologers as suspecting the existence of the new planet as a force .which • has upset some of their most perfect calculations. There are two schools of thought among astrologers. One contends that the "planet.has always been exerting an influence, for good or evil, on mankind. The other holds that a planet remains absolutely neutral or harmless until it has been discovered,- whereupon it begins to operate. This school does not indicate the means by which, the planet is advised of its having been "spotted" on the earth. : . • Thousands of horoscopes will.be in need of immediate revision, according to Mrs. Aldrieh. Tho prospects of those born in the signs of Gemini (21st' May to 21st June) and Virgo (21st August to 21st September) Are all repealed or confused by the new planet. The tragedy is that" it will not afford astrologers immediate and profitable employment, as most of those born in these "unfortunate" periods will have cxpei'7 iencod their fates long before atiy honest astrologer will be in a position ■to predict them.. .' 1

The astrologer profession is in mild disagreement as to the identity of the new planet. Evaugef-iue Adams says.it is.known.as Isis, tho Rev. Arthur W. Brooks says its name 5s Vulcan or Lillitli, Mrs." Aldrieh calls it The Great Unknown, and Jacob Lcvie refers to it as The Invisible.

Astronomers, by the way, desire that the new planet be called "Lowell," to perpetuate the name of'its most active seeker, the late Professor Lowell, and the observatory which claims to have discovered it.
