The master had forbidden him to bowl fast, but in another match ho disregared tho injunction and took seven wickets for 3. One opponent, thinking- the ball would kick, tried to duck it, was hit on .the head and collapsed. Grirumett successfully appealed/for leg before. , Later Grimmett joined the I.M.C.A. Club and won batting trophies, including tho first bat he ever possessed. .When playing for Wellington Bast, Grimmett learned to bowl googly, getting tho idea from a magazine article. He relates how before leaving Wellington he decided to abandon cricket, but was persuaded to continue. He has been no-balled l oneb only,, namely in New Zealand in 1928.
