A SOUP KITCHEN
RELIEF FOR THE NEEDY
ACTION AT DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, This Day. A proposal to start a soup kitchen in' Duncdin for. the relief of needy, families was discussed yesterday by the Mayor (Mr. E. S. Black) witli Captaiu A. E. Chandler, of the Salvation Army. Mr. Black stated that through the generosity of Mr. B. M. Grecnslade the garage and kitchen of the old Commercial Travellers' Club in Dowling street !had been made available. The garage, said the Mayor, would be fitted out to accommodate 120 persons waiting for fsoup, and the corporation was fitting three fourteen-gallon coppers in the* kitchen and attending to the electric lights. The Salvation Army would bo invited to tako part with the citizens' committee in organising relief for the needy, and the sornp kitchen would be conducted when occasion arose. ■ The kitchen would be in operation during this week; and those taking advantage of it would need to' bring their own billies.. ■' -■■".-■
