The president of the Lower Hutt Club welcomed the visitors, and this welcome was responded to by Mr.. F. J. Brooker, chairman of the. Ngaio Chess Glnb, and also'of the Wellington Chess League, and by Mr. F. K. Kelling, secre; ttiry ot'the Wellington Chess Club. These gentlemen complimented the Hutt players on having such a large gathering for their opening night, and promised the support and interest of city players.
