SYDNEY, 20th May. ■ At the wool sales to-day the market was equal to the best rates of last week for a 1 descriptions of fleece. • Skirtings met with excellent general competition, and comebacks and crossbreds sold readily. Greasy merino fleece made up to 22V2d. The offerings totalled 10,005 bales, of which 9401 were sold at auction, and "110 l bales were sold privately; The New Zealand Wool Committees average sales returns for the whole ol the Dominion show a reduction in returns •on wool for the season of £6 9;0,8a2 as compared with returns for the 1928-29 selling season. The total proceeds for 1929----30 mason's sales were £4,906,453 2s compared with £11,877,305 for the 1928-29 sales: The -average price per lb during the season just ended was 8.59 d, representing a drop of nearly 6%d a lb compared I with the 1928-29 average: The average price per bale was £12 2s 2d, a drop ot £9 '6s 7(1 a bale compared with the previous season. The. total offerings at the roster sales were 483,820 bales, a decrease of 105,582 bales compared with the previous season, and the total quantity sod w «20 bales,- or 148,095 bales less than' in 1928-29.
