MEDIUM BATTERY

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES

The 17th (medium) Battery, N.Z. Artillery paraded at'Pe.tone on Monday night for inspection by the G.0.C., N.Z. Military Forces (Major-General R. Young), and presentation of trophies won during the 1929-30 training year. The battery was complimented on its excellent turn-out by General Young, who stated that the efficiency of- the ■ Territorial Forces at the present time was probably as high as it ever had been.

The following, is a list of trophy winners:—

Best; drill section, Pearce Cup'and exNavals trophy B sub-section (Sgt. Green). Tabloid athletics (Wilford Cup), A subsection (Sgt. Crooks); best No. 1 (Mitchell Cup), Sgt. Roberts; best signaller, L.Bdr. White;'- best tractor driver, Gunner Heyes; best gunner, right section, Bomb., Dennett; best gunner, left section, Bomb. Simeon; best layer, L.-Bdr. Wilson; most efficient gunner in battery (special trophy), [Bomb. Body. ■'■•■. Efficiency Badges.—Layers: Sgt. Sut» clifi'e, L.-Sgt. Everingham, Bomb: Dennett, L.-Bilr. Wilson; tractor drivers, first-class, Gunner Heyes; second class, Bomb. Wickham, Gunner Page, Gunner Cliikls; signallers,. Bomb. Wright, L.-Bdr. White, L.Bdr. Everson. For long and efficient service, special trophy, B. S. N. Aklous and Sgt. Ford. General Young also presented to the battery the-Medium Howitzer trophy won by tiie battery during the past. year.
