SCHOOL COMMITTEES

TO-NIGHT'S ELECTIONS

Although in past years householders have failed, at the first opportunity, to elect school committees, such defections have generally occurred in the smaller country districts, but this year, owing mainly to the dissatisfaction, over capitation, more than one large city. school has been left without its usual voluntary body of managreement. Since the annual meeting of householders Jast month committees have been fully elected at Hataitai and South Wellington, but a second opportunity will be given householders this evening to elect committees (if they wish) for the Brooklyn, Hutt Central, Petone Central, Te Aro, and Terrace Schools. Only one member was nominated and elected for the BrookJyn committee at the April meeting, so there are eight vacancies; Hutt Central also has eight vacancies, but the other three schools need a full committee. Last year's Te Aro committee recigned from office, and.no nominations have been re; ceived for successors, neither are any nominations to hand for the other schools mentioned. However, as the board wishes to afford the fullest opportunity for representation, 'nominations will be received at to-night's meetings, which commence at -S o'clock.
