LONDON, 24th May. His Majesty the King has telegraphed Lord Stonehaveu, GovernorGeneral of the Commonwealth, as follows: — The Queen and I arc thankful and delighted to know of Miss Johnson's safe arrival. We heartily congratulate her on ncr wonderful and courageous achievement Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, the Prime Mnister, has cabled Miss Johnson as follows: — Heartiest congratulations on your wonderful achievement. We have followed your flight with the keenest interest and admiration. Wo are very proud of you. Lord Thomson, Air Minister, cabled congratulations on behalf of the Air Council, adding: "As the first woman pilot to fly to Australia you achieved an outstanding feat of skill and endurance.- We watched with admiration the coolness and courage which carried/ you through unforeseen difficulties and disappointments.'' Lord Thomson also telegraphed congratulations to Amy's parents. Sir Alan Cobham said: "She has boomed British prestige all over the world. The man in the street will say: 'There must be something in this flying business if a girl single-handed flies a small 'plane half across the world." ■ ■ "" ■ TRIUMPH OVER TROUBLES. The Master of Sempill, on behalf of the Eoyal Aeronautical Society, cabled congratulations as follow: "Your splendid and.complete triumph over many serious difficulties, mainly provided by Nature, has earned not only most sincere admiration, but has convincingly demonstrated tho remakablc qualities of British light aeroplanes and engines. '' Sir Softon Branckner, ex-Air Marshal, ivho successfully urged Sir Charles Wakefield to assist the flight, has cabled Miss Johnson congratulations on her splendid achievement in the cause of British aviation. . j "Amy Johnson" was the toast of the evening at the Air Union's dinner to-night. Tho British Air League, for which Miss Johnson was at one time typist arid sub-editor, asked the Australian Press Association to convey the following: "The Air League congratulates you on your magnificent flight and hopes you may inspire British aviation to rouse itself from its apathy." Lady Bailey thinks the flight was remarkable, and says: "The more Britain follows her examplo tho better." ' Mr. Perrin, of the Royal Aero Club, says: "Words cannot express how we admire her feat." ■•■ i The Sheffield University, where Miss Johnson graduated, has cabled its heartiest congratulations on her great achievement.
