BETTER WEATHER
WARMER AND LESS SQUALLY
The cold and squally south-west wind experienced on Saturday moderated during the night, and by Sunday there was a decided improvement in tha weather. Except for considerable cloud; at times and a few scattered showers, Sunday's weather was mainly fair. From Cook Strait southward the wind has acquired a westerly or northerly; tendency owing to the crossing of southern New Zealand by another slight low pressure wave. These waves are skirting the southern edge of an extonsivo anti-cyclone which is covering eastern Australia and the Tasman Sea.
Auckland's weather on Saturday was showery, but improved yesterday. In Wellington the wind was very cold on. Saturday, but the weather yesterday, although cloudy, was comparatively pleasant. Cold and unpleasant weather with showersrwas experienced in Christchurch on Saturday, but the weather improved yesterday. Dunedin had rather cold and unsettled weather with light showers during the week-end. •North of, New Plymouth- and Napier moderate south-westerly winds may be expected. South of those points moderate westerly winds will freshen somewhat. In eastern districts the weather for the most part should be fair to fine. Western districts may expect rather more changeable weather and a few scattered showers. Temperatures will be somewhat milder.
