ROAD CYCLING SATURDAY'S EVENTS TIME lyflAL AVON BY BRAY The cold soutlierly wind on Saturday afternoon was troublesome to the road cyclists, but the road surface was good. Two races were held, one of 20 miles along the Hutt road by the Port Nicholson Club riders affiliated to the N.Z.A.A.A. and the other a time trial over a twentyfive miles course, with sealed handicaps, by the Port Nicholson Club (N.Z.U.C. body). Among those present at the start of theN.Z.A.A.A. race was Mr. E. Wads-worth ("The Flying Arab"), who is making a world tour on a bicycle. He presented a trophy for the race, and was warmly cheered as he pushed the limit man oil the mark. There were 14 starters and the finishing sprint, in which seven riders took part, was very close. F. Christenson (2min) beat R. Lyster (smin) by a wheel, with G. Piunti third. Details are:— F. Christenson (2min), riding time, 51. mm 15 sec 1 R. Lyster. (umin), 54min 15 l-ssec i G. Piunti (3mm), 52min 15 2-ssec .... 3 Christenson also made fastest time. C. Ericsson (2min), who covered the course in ■ siiiiin 15 3-usee, secured second, fastest time, and Phmti third fastest time. The race started and finished at the Central Fire Brigade Station. • TIME TRIAL. Twenty-two riders took part in. the time trial event, which was held from the leiephonc Exchange to Tuita and back.
