LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION
The eighth annual report ot ihc "Wellington branch of the League, of Nations Union states that the branch has sup- | ported the Dominion executive in its appeals to the Government in regard to better provision for the instruction of children in primary schools and the adoption by New Zealand of the Optional Clause. lit is a matter for regret, -the report comiments, that so far the Minister of EclucaLtion has not been able to accede to the I request for the publication ot a special I supplement to the School Journal, to | supply teachers with material for lessons about the League and its work. Armistice Day was observed, at the instance ol the Society of Friends, by a special meeting hold in the Town Hall", at which ah the organisations of the city united in a peace demonstration. The report refers with gratification to the fact that New Zealand, in its relation to the 'wider matters ot world peace and tlie League ot Nations, has signed the Optional Clause of the j World Court, and has this year, for the first time, sent delegates to the International Labour Conference at Geneva.
