Sir Thomas Lipton, who in the past thirty years has spent half a million sterling on five yachts built to sail across the Atlantic and challenge in American waters holders of the America Cup, is confident that Shamrock V. will be successful in the race next September. Sir Thomas, who is eighty years old, is highly pleased with performances of hia new yacht, which won another race" at Southend to-day, and declares that the trials have revealed no weak points in design.
