The Kelburn branch of the League of Mothers held a very successful meeting last week, when members were given an interesting address on the "League of Nations" by Mrs. John Hannah, who has' recently visited Geneva when tho Assembly of tho League was in session. Tho speaker, whoso personal contact with the League gave great point and conviction. to the address, said that interest in tho League was not so keen here as in England, whero all schools of political opinion acknowledged and supported the League. His Majesty tho King has appealed strongly to the British peoples to support the League. It could accomplish just so much as tho sincere support of public opinion would afford, while endeavouring to carry out the tremendous. experiment of organising the whole human race to be friends with each other. Professor Gilbert Murray, a great philosopher, had said, "No good either economic or spiritual, ever comes from war." It was the cause of man's evils, known and unknown. The League of Nations stood for the ideals of tho men who went to the front in 1914. "Human nature changes slowly," said the speaker, "but none the less it changes. Faith in human nature and courage to work for the ideal of a warless world are high ideals—but they arc within roach of all—particularly the mothers, who have the great gift of influence." A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Hannah, and also Miss Marjorio Bennie, who contributed songs, which were .much enjoyed during tho afternoon. '. . . ■■
