DIRT TRACK RACING

Should the agreement eventuate- it is possible that dirt track.racing will be staged in Palmerston North during the A. and P.. Spring, ; Show. ' ■■■ ■
Negotiations are proceeding and"'"the committee of the Manawatu and" West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association is considering the introduction of broadsiding to this centre. ,
It is. reported that the speedway company which intends to , establish, itself on the Show Grounds will be linked up with those alreadj' existing in Auckland, Christchurch,1 Dunedin, and Wellington, and the same overseas riders will compete in this city. \ :.'.',-
It is understood that, in the event1 of negotiations being settled to the satisfaction'of all parties, seating to accommodate 3000 people and costing £3000 will be erected round the Oval, while a 440 yds track, 40ft wide' at the corners and 30ft wide in the straight,, will be prepared.
It is stated that the proposed track will not be banked, and will not encroach upon the playing areas for football or other pastimes.. There would be about twenty meetings a season, extending from Ist November to Easter.
