At Ist May the average level of retail prices of commodities was approximately. 55 per cent, above that of July, IDI4, as compared with 57 per cent, a month ago and 61 per cent, a year ago.
Tho fall in the general percentage inereaso" since Ist April was largely due to reductions in the prices of butter, milk, and- coal. The cost of living is shown by this figure to be lower now than at any time since October, 1910.
