The offect of the Ministry's tariff surcharges and prohibition .is already being felt. To balance the estimated revenue of £44,450,000 from Customs and excise duties nearly £7,500,000 must be collected before the end of June,, but it is unlikely that more thun £0,000,000 will bo received from those sources. Tho Treasurer, Mr. Theodore, budgeted for a surplus, but it is now expected that there will be a deiicit of from £1,000,000 to £1,500,000.
